Announcing PANTONE’s Color of the Year…

It’s called “MARSALA” aka PANTONE 18-1438, and personally, I love it! Pantone describes it as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls”

PantoneColor2015MARSALAPantoneMARSALA-COMPIt’s a rich yet muted shade found as much in reproduction palettes as in casual, contemporary fabrics, from PAULA BARNES COMPANIONS and POMEGRANATE LANE and THE SEASONS WOOL COLLECTION to NEW AGED MUSLINS and more.  Things are looking up for 2015…see? >>

How do you like Pantone’s pick? I’m sure we have lots of other MARSALA fans out there, so leave a comment below and you could win a fun little bundle of MARSALA-worthy fabrics.  We’ll draw a random winner next Tuesday! —  lisa s

  1. I TOTALLY agree with Pantone – this color is very much worthy of being the color of the year. The fabrics you’ve selected to represent it are perfect.

  3. Pantone has chosen well. Marsala is gorgeous…it reminds me of the ‘Madder’ repro fabrics…and who doesn’t love those.

  4. I really like the new color for 2015. Rich tones for projects in civil war and/or holiday. Look forward to seeing more fabrics with this color in 2015.

  14. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I really do love the new shade of red that is just a little darker and richer looking than the orangeier red of times past. I have already purchased some of those fabrics shown and since I am a primitive and traditional quilter they seem to work well for me.

  15. Oh what a beautiful color–it’s so warm and inviting! I would love to decorate with it.

  16. Ooh! ! ! Pretty! ! ! ! Pick me! ! ! ! I have just started planning a quilt in those colors.

  17. I love the earthy rich red color. I see it as a great choice for fall projects. Since my last name is “Wine” why wouldn’t I love this rich wine color!

  18. This is a really rich look. Not my usual palette, but I could stretch to make this work in my stitching. Thanks for the opportunity!

  19. I love the new color. It’s deep rich tones will complement many other colors. I can see it in modern quilting projects as well as a more traditional quilt project.
