It’s called “MARSALA” aka PANTONE 18-1438, and personally, I love it! Pantone describes it as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls”
It’s a rich yet muted shade found as much in reproduction palettes as in casual, contemporary fabrics, from PAULA BARNES COMPANIONS and POMEGRANATE LANE and THE SEASONS WOOL COLLECTION to NEW AGED MUSLINS and more. Things are looking up for 2015…see? >>
How do you like Pantone’s pick? I’m sure we have lots of other MARSALA fans out there, so leave a comment below and you could win a fun little bundle of MARSALA-worthy fabrics. We’ll draw a random winner next Tuesday! — lisa s

I TOTALLY agree with Pantone – this color is very much worthy of being the color of the year. The fabrics you’ve selected to represent it are perfect.

Excellent Choice! I can visualize this color throughout my home and in my wardrobe.
Pantone has chosen well. Marsala is gorgeous…it reminds me of the ‘Madder’ repro fabrics…and who doesn’t love those.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I really do love the new shade of red that is just a little darker and richer looking than the orangeier red of times past. I have already purchased some of those fabrics shown and since I am a primitive and traditional quilter they seem to work well for me.
I think this is a color I can live with–hated last years!
Me, too, Karen, the past few years’ Pantone colors have been pretty bad. We were due for a great one! – lisa
Oh what a beautiful color–it’s so warm and inviting! I would love to decorate with it.
