“Splendor in the Scraps” from McCall’s Quilting

McCallsQScrapWhen we first thumbed through the July/August 2016 issue of McCalls Quilting magazine here in the office, this particular quilt caught our attention.

Quilt designer Marcie Patch used her own stash to create it, but it looks so similar to the colors in Judie Rothermel’s MACIE’S JOURNAL collection, we had to share it with you, in case the colors in your own stash weren’t sufficient to recreate it.  Enjoy…

McCall’s Quilting Loves Faye Burgos Florals!

Fresh on my desk this morning:  The new Jan/Feb 2015 issue of McCall’s Quilting magazine.  And gracing the cover is their “Cottage Romance” design, made up of prints from AMERICAN BOUQUET and SIDEWALK CAFE, both by Faye Burgos.  As you can see, her classic florals combine beautifully in this generous 96″ square quilt. This issue contains Part 1 of the 6-part series, resulting in this gorgeous quilt at the end of the year.  Enjoy the creative process in two-month intervals, as well as the convenience of a Kit, available through the magazine.

Looking Ahead to Autumn Projects Already?

If so, you’ll want to consider this scrappy design by Homestead Hearth.  It’s featured in the September/October issue of McCalls’ Quilting magazine.  The beginner-friendly design is made up in a lively mix of prints from PAULA BARNES COMPANIONS and Pam Buda’s PRAIRIE STITCHES.

Finished size is approx. 84 x 90″

Capture The Great Outdoors in Plaids & Stripes…

Just in from Homestead Hearth…a sneak peek at their latest project for McCall’s Quilting magazine (August 2014 issue). They’ve mixed fabrics from the MOLLY B’s CLASSIC WOVENS II collection to capture the very essence of the comforts of hearth and home.  The Great Outdoors design is perfect for showcasing yarn-dyed woven plaids and stripes like Molly B’s.  Instructions are in the issue, and a quilt kit is available.  Size approx 84″ x 101″

Have You Seen the Cover Of McCall’s Quilting?

…The first issue of 2014 (Jan/Feb) just hit my desk, and we’re thrilled to see Nancy Rink’s quilt made the cut!  It’s on the chair, third from the left, and it features PARTY OF TWELVE by Judie Rothermel, PIN MONEY by Pam Buda and PAULA BARNES COMPANIONS.  Check out this full view of the quilt, called “Clara’s Pride”...with just two block designs and a beautiful range of repro prints, we think it’s a great way to begin the quilting year!  Congratulations, Nancy!  — lisa s
