If you’re one of those quilters who can’t wait for fall, here’s a great project to set your quilting season in motion: Cozy Constellation by Sarah Maxwell is featured in the September/October issue of McCall’s Quilting magazine. She chose a mix of PRIMO PLAID FLANNELS: Harvest II fabrics. The four blocks, each 36” square, are sure to go together fast. Plus, a kit is available! Quilt instructions and kit ordering details are in the magazine.
Sure, you’ve probably heard of Christmas in July, but today we’re taking a tip from our friends at American Patchwork & Quilting with a sneak peek at some of the fabrics you’ll find in shops for Holiday 2014. Their preview includes just one of our holiday lines, PRIMO PLAIDS – Christmas, shown here in a fun snowman quilt pattern by PastThyme Patterns: And we’ve also got WINTERLY WONDERFUL holiday panel and coordinates by Faye Burgos. The color scheme includes rich tones of red, green and blue, mixed with neutrals to give a more versatile decorative appeal:
and more winter style from Maw Bell Designs with CHALK IT UP TO WINTER FLANNELS. You’ll love these classic reds and greens in the designers’ quilt and craft pattern designs, or in a cozy creation of your own.
That hectic season when all the behind-the-scenes prep takes place, resulting in the beautiful, well-oiled machine that is our Quilt Market Booth! Almost daily, new made-up items arrive here in the office for the booth display. Here’s a peek at some projects using PRIMO PLAIDS – CHRISTMAS, AMERICAN BOUQUET, and AUNT GRACE TIES ONE ON, from left to right. (We’ll follow up with Pati for specific pattern info on these projects later — judging from how quickly she’s racing thru the halls, clearly now is not the time… We look forward to seeing all of our quilt shop owner customers and associates in Pittsburgh, May 15-18.
Did you catch this gorgeous quilt in the new issue of McCall’s Quilting (March/April 2014)? This pic doesn’t quite do it justice, but it’s a perfect design for so many of our PRIMO PLAIDS…or MOLLY B’s CLASSIC WOVENS…or PRAIRIE DOBBIES & PRAIRIE WOVENS… Quilt designer Sherri Bain Driver mentions that she used mostly flannels (think Primos) yet smooth cottons will work as well. We love her creative cutting and piecing of plaids and stripe, and the subtle yet colorful result.
At this time of year especially, we’d like to express our gratitude to all of our quilting friends, those celebrating Thanksgiving with us here in the US, as well as our friends around the world. Thank you for sharing our love of quilting, sewing and crafting!
May you enjoy a safe, happy and creative holiday season…
