Simply visit all of the QuiltCon booths Victoria is associated with, including her own Booth #338, have your card stamped in each booth, and you could win a $500 prize pack from Victoria herself!! Of course, we suggest you begin your Hop at the Marcus booth…
FREEMarcus WOOL Mini-Make-n-Take: Visit our sewing station to stitch up a cute little multi-layered bright wool embellishment. Inspired by penny rugs, these single “Wool Pennies” can jazz up a quilt, bag, or add a pin back for easy fabric jewelry. Thanks to our friends at Aurifil for supplying their cotton floss, and to Sizzix for their die cutting machine.
On Thursday and Sunday, Sarah J Maxwell will share her favorite paper piecing tips and techniques as she stitches up blocks using her new DANDY DAYScollection and supplies from Paper Pieces!
Looking forward to a fun and creative weekend — See you there!!
It looks like one of the top themes emerging from Spring Quilt Market was Butterflies! So we had to share this gorgeous interpretation of the trend by Deirdre Bond-Abel of Hat Creek Quilts. What sets her look apart from the rest? The stunning mix of wool applique on cotton prints, more specifically the Marcus WOOL COLLECTION paired with INTRIGUE prints by Nancy Rink. Deirdre named the quilt pattern, “Borboleta,” the Portuguese word for “butterfly”.
“When I first saw the bright wools at Market last May (2015), I thought “butterfly sampler” so I have been waiting a while to have time to make it. The wools are just divine, the colours so beautiful and the quality of the fabric is first class. The wools combine so beautifully with the Intrigue prints “ Visit www.hatcreekquilts.com.au
Wow!…We had to share with you this just-released Summer 2015 issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine! The cover shows off a gorgeous quilt by Miriam Gourley Rawson, talented craft and quilt designer and friend of Marcus. You’ve seen some of her designs on our website, in out booths at Quilt Market, as well as her own blog, Miriam Crafts with You.
Miriam’s cover creation is a Scandinavian-inspired piece that incorporates Marcus wools. Grab the issue for instructions – it’s on newsstands now! Congratulations, Miriam!
A sneak peek from Pati’s office reveals these juicy new wool colors, coming soon to your favorite quilt shop! A range of brights and two heather tones round out the already popular collection, THE SEASONS WOOL COLLECTION ready to be used off the bolt, or felted, using this simple technique.
For creative applique and other techniques for quilts, accessories and more, wool knows no season. Watch for these new additions to appear online in April, and in quilt shops in May!
