Fall Quilt Market Wrap-Up: Part 2

We appreciate the major role our talented DESIGNERS obviously play in the twice-yearly production known as Quilt Market!  You can find them stitching on their last-minute quilt bindings, demonstrating new techniques, making presentations to shop owners or sales reps, greeting fans at book signings, and more.  In general, their schedules stay pretty packed throughout the show, both behind the scenes and on the show floor…

Working on Christmas Projects Yet??

If so, you’ll enjoy these ideas featuring our Holiday 2017 collections, starting with Laura Berringer’s FROSTY FLAMINGO.  Laura’s a longtime fabric designer, and though she’s relatively to sewing and quilting, she’s quickly moving beyond her “Newbie” status  ; )  We love her tropically festive holiday stockings with contrast cuffs!

Then Brandy Browner took the “tropically festive” theme to another level with her imaginative interpretation – check out her realistic yet whimsical wing and beak accents – she drafted her own pattern pieces to achieve the look.

And Miriam Rawson found table runner inspiration in Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s GREEN AND RED prints!  This pattern is called “Checkmate”  by Lella Boutique, is actually for a 16-block quilt, but Miriam adapted the pattern using just four blocks…

And or course, we love Victoria’s own take on her GREEN AND RED collection, in her signature Double Wedding Ring design!

Be sure to also mix in PRIMO PLAID FLANNELS, the WOOL COLLECTION and other basics for easy Holiday style. Whatever you celebrate, whatever you make — and whenever you start — Happy Holiday Stitching to All!!

AccuQuilt Loves AUNT GRACE, Too!

It seems everyone is rediscovering our AUNT GRACE 1930s vintage print collections by reproduction innovator Judie Rothermel, and interpreting them in such exciting new ways!  Recently we featured Laura Coia of Sew Very Easy, and now we’re pleased to share more fresh (and FREE!) inspiration from our friends at AccuQuilt.  This time they’re using Judie’s latest, AUNT GRACE BASKETS OF SCRAPS, along with their GO! Qube GO! Qube Mix & Match 8” Block (55776) and GO! Qube 8” Companion Set-Classics (55780), with fantastic results…

AccuQuilt GO! Qube and Autn Grace FAbrics - marcusfabrics.comWe love their mix of prints and colors to create the diagonal stretched stars motif across the 48″ square quilt.  It’s the perfect size for a baby quilt or chair throw.  This is a timeless look that epitomizes the current 1930s Vintage decorating trends, and it works beautifully in traditional and modern room settings alike.

And as we begin September as National Sewing Month, there’s no better time than  to start your own Aunt Grace quilt!

Order the FREE pattern!

You’ll Love Laura Coia’s Take on Our AUNT GRACE Quilt!

Be sure to check out Laura Coia of Sew Very Easy, as she breaks down our AUNT GRACE quilt with her own great tips and techniques!  The video is titled “How to Sew a Quilt with Diagonal Rows.”   One great thing about quilting is that there’s always something new to learn, and Laura offers quick and easy variations you’ll want to incorporate into other projects, too!

Judie Rothermel’s AUNT GRACE prints give the quilt a vintage feel, with classic Nine-Patch and Snowball blocks arranged for an updated look.  Of course, prints from Judie’s newest  AUNT GRACE BASKETS OF SCRAPS would work equally well.  We’re working on a few more projects with Laura for Fall 2017, so stay tuned, and until then, subscribe to Sew Very Easy for lots of great  projects and inspiration!
