Time to Pick the Winner!!

CollGallCOMPThanks to all who shared their love for COLLECTORS’ GALLERY last week.  Without further delay, the winner of our BLUE fabric bundle and a printed copy of “Red, White and Sometimes Blue” book from Martingale is:

SANDRA CHAVEZ —  Congratulatulations, Sandra!  Not surprisingly, most of your 300+ comments shared Sandra’s sentiment:  “Beautiful pure colors make this fabric look exquisite. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.”

The Classic Appeal of Red, White and Blue

CollGallBundles

Decorating trends featuring red and blue remain strong — from Redwork embroidery and Americana country settings to more contemporary looks, their appeal continues. The addition of cream gives each color a fresh, clean look. So as we were launching COLLECTORS’ GALLERY by Faye Burgos, we were especially excited to see so much quilt inspiration available to go along with it.  Case in point: Red, White, and Sometimes Blue, published by Martingale.  The book is a compilation of classic red and white, blue and white, and combined color projects from the pages of McCall’s Quilting magazine.  Choose from the 17 projects, including pieced and appliqued, scrappy and tailored that go far beyond patriotic themes.  You’re sure to find lots of ways to highlight Faye’s lush florals, textures, and 1″ Strip-It prints, too.

We figured it was a natural giveaway, so we’ve partnered with our quilt buddies at Martingale to offer a “Book & Bundle” prize to a lucky winner,  Comment below for a chance to win a copy of the book along with a 12-pack of BLUE half-yard cuts!, then visit the Martingale blog and comment again to increase your chances of winning!  Good Luck, everyone!

It’s Time to Announce Our Giveaway Winner…

Thanks to all of you who expressed your enthusiasm and creativity in discussing our NEW AGED MUSLINS.  The winner of this generously swatched sample card is Karen Martin of Breezy Point, MN, who said:

I love the aged muslins and have mostly used them as backgrounds for stitchery, applique and occasionally in piecing. I also love the aged canvas–I’m using it for a background on a wool applique project and it supports the wool wonderfully.  I’ve never tried the colors–they look yummy!

And it seems many of you have used (or plan to use) the New Aged Muslins in similar ways and in many others, like sashings, shirts, Log Cabins, mixed with repros, updated Amish-style quilts and more.  We appreciate your input!  ; )     — lisa

Speaking of the MUSLINS, Check Out Rob Appell!

Quilting expert Rob Appell has just launched a new site called Mansewing.com, in conjunction with our friends at Missouri Star Quilt Company.  Well, we were thrilled to learn that his premiere episode features our own NEW AGED MUSLINS, in a curved piecing tutorial.

If you’ve never done cured piecing, trust me, it’s sooo much AgedMuslinsFQ-Missourieasier without pins, as Rob demonstrates.  So be sure to check out his site for some great mid-winter inspiration  ; )

To mark the occasion of the launch, MSQC is offering a special FQ Bundle on these beauties.

Speaking of, stay tuned as we pick the winner of our New Aged Muslins swatch card giveaway, later today.  Yes, there’s still a little time to get your comments in for a chance to win  ; )  Enjoy!    — lisa

Look at These Gorgeous Greens!

This just in…Stephanie Dell’Olio, president and fearless leader of our retail division, couldn’t help but notice the spike in orders for NEW AGED MUSLINS, and in particular this gorgeous selection of green tones along the center of the swatch card.  The muted, subtly shaded effect of AgedMuslinGREENSthese “not-quite-solid” muslins makes them perfect for life-like appliqued leaves and stems.

We already  know that floral applique projects are big now, so  in part that might explain it, but we always love to hear about your other creative uses for our basics. Applique? Backgrounds? Sashings? Fashion?  Do you mix them with contemporary prints or reproductions, or maybe use them in place of true solids?

In fact, that would be a fun giveaway:  Comment below to tell us how you’ve used our NEW AGED MUSLINS for the chance to win this swatch card (you’ll love this giveaway — the swatches are huge!)  We’ll hold a random drawing next Tuesday, February 3!
