#QuiltCon — Keep ’em Comin!!

Can you just imagine the quilts these blocks will make, in the capable hands of Victoria Findlay Wolfe and Sarah Maxwell?  The completed quilts will then be donated to raise funds for ALS research, through the Hopes & Dreams program spearheaded by Quilters Dream Batting. We can’t wait to see them!

And So Begins QuiltCon 2016…

Marcus QuiltCon hotelYes, the Marcus crew has arrived in Pasadena for QuiltCon, and Pati couldn’t wait to show off their swanky-looking hotel accommodations.  Notice two things:

  1. Looking at this carpet makes me want a cappuccino.  Anyone else?
  2. Even the elevators offer luxe design inspiration…

Prairie Inspiration, Pam Buda Style

When it comes to American prairie life and the unique inspiration it brings to today’s quilters, no one does better than Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts, as her ever-growing legion of followers will agree!  Pam recently shared what’s new in her studio, with the release of her latest collection, ANTIQUE COTTON CALICOS: Old Green Calicos:

Of course, Pam herself describes her look best:  “Prairie life always inspires me, and when the early settlers sought to homestead, receiving a land parcel near water was, of course, a prize for many reasons.  Thinking those thoughts, and about the blue and green colors, a picture like this came to mind.  Can you see yourself in a comfy chair gazing at this scene?  I sure could.  The colors and serenity inspired the name for the quilt….Old Mill Pond.

Gorgeous, right??!! Read more from her recent blog post, including details of Pam’s special offer on the “Old Mill Pond” kit , now through January 29!   You can also visit your favorite local quilt shops for Old Green Calicos – it’s arriving in stores NOW!

Christmas at Rockefeller Center!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

The famous Christmas tree at “30 Rock” is all aglow, and we enjoyed the air of merriment…with the sea of selfie sticks jockeying for the best position, and unseasonably high NYC temps in the 60s  ; )

ICYMI (in case you missed it) we snapped a few pix…Laura and I agreed that we always expect the tree to be really gigantic — maybe it actually used to be bigger and we’re just dating ourselves — but I was still impressed with how the lights were positioned throughout, even inserted deep into the tree, all the way in toward the trunk.

Her recent blog post shares a bit of her inspiration for the group, and how she’s used the collection so far. (Be sure to follow us on IG @marcusfabrics, if you don’t already…)   And look for the fabrics in quilt shops beginning January!
