Nancy’s Newest Needs a Name!

If you have a talent for naming things, then this is the contest for you!  Nancy Rink of Nancy Rink Designs is enlisting your help, quilting friends, to come up with a name for this gorgeous new quilt pattern.  It features the new GEORGETOWN collection by Judie Rothermel, and Nancy’s signature appliqué.  It’s easy to enter:

Celine’s Quilt is in Progress ; )

So, it looks like Pati has PatiHeadShota definite vision as her First Quilt for her First Grandchild actually begins to take shape!  “With a three-hour drive to Connecticut, it seemed like the perfect time to start Celine’s quilt,” she reported over the weekend.

And are we at all surprised by her choice of English paper pieced hexies?  The mix of a traditional quilt block with bright, contemporary colors of Nancy Rink’s INTRIGUE collection will appeal to each generation of the family.

Here she’s auditioning various backgrounds for the flowers. Personally, I’m not a fan of light grounds, so I vote #1 Orange, then # 2 Pink.  Or maybe alternate orange and pink ground blocks?  What’s your favorite?  —- lisa

A Future Quilter is Born ; )

CelineWe’re pleased to announce the arrival of Celine, the newest member of the Marcus family,
and first granchild of our Director of Marketing, Pati Violick.  They say nothing gets you stitching like the birth of a grandbaby, and Pati has already started to choose fabrics for the First Quilt, a mix of orange and hot pink — along with grey, they make up the nursery palette.  I have a feeling this little girl will learn to appreciate the joy of hexies and paper piecing before long…  –lisa

So are we!  And we couldn’t wait any longer to share this sneak peek of Nancy Rink’s latest, AMISH WITH A TWIST III, a beautiful new interpretation of her signature BOM, created with eleven colors, including NEW Marcus CENTENNIAL SOLIDS!Amish3COMP

 

 

 

 

We think the designs speak for themselves, with pieced and appliqued options for the center medallion design, and rich Blue Coal background that allows the colors to pop.  The applique version can be stitched using traditional applique or optional pre-cut laser pieces.  The full pieced version and a smaller detail pic of the appliqued version are shown.

Complete this beauty in just 10 months, beginning September 2015!

Last Call for Lucy Boston!

A big THANK YOU to all of our quilting friends for participating in our Lucy Boston Challenge this weekend at the Road to CA event!  With over 125 blocks completed this weekend, we appreciate your talents, comments and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to unveil the finished project.  Pati says, “Looks like we will be making a couple of quilts for the ALS donation. Thank you all that participated.  I had the best time seeing how excited you all were to hand in your blocks.”

Look Who Made the AURIFIL 2015 Design Team…

Guess what: Our own very talented Nancy Rink of Nancy Rink Designs is one of several quilt artists named to AURIFIL Thread’s 2015 Design Team!  Judging from the size of those spools, it looks like they’re all in for a really fun and eventful year.  AurifulDesigners2015NancyYou know Nancy from her colorful fabric collections and gorgeous BOMs and other quilt designs including AMISH WITH A TWIST, COLOR LOVE, MILL WORKS and POINTE PLEASANT, among others.  (That’s her in the solid black shirt, lower left end.)  We’re thrilled that Nancy will bring Marcus fabrics and Aurifil together in her gorgeous creations for the coming year, and beyond…

Congratulations to Nancy and all of the Aurifil designers!
