A Month for Creative Women Everywhere!

GroupQuilterscanstock8696560Here we are, in the midst of National CRAFT Month, with National QUILTING Day just ahead on March 15, and thanks to the National Quilting Association, it seems even that has been extended into National Quilting Month!  Why not?  That just gives us 30 additional excuses to indulge our passion for beautiful fabrics, patterns, gadgets and embellishments! Check out NQA’s free pattern in honor of the the month-long event, Stash Attack.

Taking a good thing a step further, March 15 has also been designated Worldwide Quilting Month, with a list of participating shops that grows each year, offering shopping sprees and events galore!

To top it off, March is also Women’s History Month, so no matter how or what you choose to celebrate, you’ve still got time   ; )  Visit your local quilt shops, craft retailers and fabric stores for some great inspiration…Enjoy!

Festive and Versatile – The Perfect Holiday Project!

The holidays are here! And we can practically feel the vibrations of your sewing machines all over the world, creating gifts and decorative accents for the upcoming festivities.  Now, if you’re still in search of fresh  holiday inspiration, try Nancy Rink’s Fancy Packages quilt design, done in her own TWEET FOR TWO prints for Marcus Fabrics. Nancy’s easy layout lets you customize the block configurations to create not only the wall hanging as show, but also pillow fronts (approx. 4 by 4 blocks or 1 x 3 blocks for a bolster style), mantle drapes (approx. 3 by 10 blocks), table runners (approx. 2 by 12 blocks) and more! Of course the actual number of blocks you need will depend on your desired finished size.  Don’t you just love a versatile quilt pattern?

We’re Sorry…

Already we’ve been told by more than one shop owner that they can’t possibly decide between the two gorgeous colorways created by Faye Burgos for her M FOR MYSTERY collection!  MysteryFQStackedWe really didn’t mean to make it such a difficult decision for you…but if it helps, you could always offer BOTH the blue/rust, AND the black/pink combos!  Either way, you can’t lose with these lush floral lead patterns and their companion prints when creating our new Mystery Quilt BOM, designed by Homestead Hearth! When you start with fabrics this beautiful, you can’t help but make a great quilt!  The program begins in January, so maybe you’d better begin the color decision-making process now  ; )  Quilting friends, what do you think??

New from Kansas City Star Books…

There’s something about seeing our fabrics in print that still excites us every time – it never gets old!  This time, Kansas City Star Quilts announces their upcoming book, Kindred Spirits, by Jill Shaulis and Vicki Olsen, which features LOTS of Marcus prints!  their quilt shop and pattern business, Yellow Creek Quilt Designs, is known for its warm 1800s reproduction prints and wool fabrics. Now they celebrate their love of classic quilts in this diverse collection of 13 projects, including bed-size quilts, wall hangings, table runners and a wool appliqué table mat. While paying homage to the past, sisters Jill and Vicki also put their own twist on tradition, in a variety of quilt designs.  As a leader in reproduction style prints, we’re happy to be a part of KC Star’s newest release, and we hope you’ll love their interpretations of our fabrics as much as we do!  Check out an excerpt here.
