It’s time to unveil our next Mugrug Challenge winner — Congratulations to Laura Mattox! She showed us a more traditional style, using some of her favorite Marcus reproduction prints along with Gettysburg Sun, a quilt block pattern by Carol Hopkins. Add in a great binding, that adorable teddy and quilt-inspired coffee mug, and you have this gorgeous result:
We’re just about halfway through the Challenge, which means there is still plenty of time to get involved. Be sure to use the #MarcusMugshot when you post, so we can locate your entry!
I really like her mug rug, The pattern and fabrics are lovely. I do have a question, though, is this a repeat post, or did this same mug rug win again this week? I looked back and saw that this same mug rug won the weekly prize on the eighth of March, so I was just curious, if the same entry could win more than once. Thank you. It has been fun to make one each week and to see what everyone else is creating!
Hi Amanda – Thanks for your note. This mugrug only won one time, but the blog post was still in draft, os it wasn’t published until yesterday. You likely saw her mentioned as the winner on Instagram or FB page when she first one. You mentioned that you enjoy making one each week, which is great!! Are you posting them to Instagram with #marcusmugshot, and what’s your handle there? I want to be sure we’re seeing your entries…
Thanks for your speedy reply! I have been really enjoying this mug rug challenge. It has given me a good reason to sew, and I have been practicing my binding, which is probably my weakest quilting skill. I am thinking I will use them for party favors at my quilt guilds annual tea party, which is in May. My username on Instagram is
patchworkprincess82. I am pretty new to Instagram, and now I am kind of obsessed! I have been checking out the new mug rugs at #marcusmugshot each day. So fun, and thanks again! Have a great day!
