“Mr Swirl E Bones” Wins Again!

Please join us in congratulating Victoria on winning the Third Place INNOVATIVE PIECED award at Quilt Festival, sponsored by IQA and Tin Lizzie!  This is the fourth award for the fabulous “Mr. Swirl E. Bones”.   You might remember that her intriguing design (which featured skulls, in formation, wearing top hats!) also grabbed Judges’ Choice and Viewers’ Choice honors at QuiltCon earlier this year, as well as First Place at MQX in April. Impressive!

Did You See Victoria in Warwick, NY?

If you attended the Warwick Valley Quilt Guild’s show this past weekend, hopefully, you caught Victoria’s presentation, along with some Retail Therapy from Victoria (and lots of other great vendors!)  The bi-annual guild show takes place in Warwick, NY.  Pati (shown in the right side photo with Victoria’s assistants, Laurie and Kim) was also in attendance, and she sent along a few pix of the exciting event.  Goodies at Victoria’s booth included MEADOW STORM and MOSTLY MANOR bundles and of course, inspiring quilts…

Laura’s New Sewing Space

Laura's New Sewing SpaceAs a fitting finale to our recent “Summer Highlights” blog post, we’re peeking at Laura’s new sewing space, courtesy of her college-bound daughter  ; )

“One of my favorite summer moments (albeit, a bittersweet one) was taking my youngest daughter to college – she was so excited and happy.  But coming back to her empty room was not easy…..until a few days later, when I set up my little Singer sewing machine on her desk!      I wonder what I’ll make…”

Laura, our talented design director, is also a new quilter. My guess is that she’ll be whipping up more new quilts and accessories from her upcoming Studio 37 collections. There was also talk of a skirt in one of her HIGH CONTRAST prints. If you missed it, Laura will be donating her GIRLY-O-SAURUS baby quilt to Project Linus.  Follow her on Instagram @laurasewmodern for her next creation…and future fabric giveaways!

Here’s Pati (center) with Lisa and Lora of The Material Girlfriends.  (You probably recognize them as the designers of our “Bird Walk” BOM.)

Thanks to everyone who attended this fun and successful event!  We hope you’ve all been inspired to create gorgeous, easy English paper pieced designs.

An Elegant Affair…and Quilting!

Next on Pati’s agenda: an appearance at In Between Stitches, a most beautiful quilt shop in Livermore, CA. She was invited to be one of the  featured presenters at a very elegant event hosted by the shop, but before the Saturday afternoon soiree, she visited the shop itself:

The Tea Party itself took place at the Purple Orchid Resort and Spa, a lovely and relaxing setting where the attendees enjoyed formal tea, along with tips and techniques on English paper piecing and the creative use of Strip-It™ fabrics.  Pati, alon with Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek (shown below), and Lynn Wilder of Sew’n Wild Oaks, delighted the women with a variety of looks to enhance their quilting projects:

Back to School, Grumpy Cat ; (

grumpyubndisplayWhen Grumpy Cat’s book was spotted in a local Barnes & Noble store as part of their  Back-to-School display, of course we had to share it with you!  And while the majority of parents are probably thrilled to greet another school year, some kids might relate more to Grumpy Cat.

No matter how you feel about it, we wish everyone a fun and fruitful new school year…and may we suggest that some new school gear in GRUMPY CAT prints and FLANNELS just might help to brighten a few dispositions!  Think shirts, totes, locker decor and more… Fabrics hit your local quilt shops in just a few short weeks!
